Row Upon Row

Got another row done on my blanket! This is another Wendy Pampas yarn color, #2201, Cream.

All right, so I've got a question: what other colors do you think I should use? I'm thinking of doing something like this: dark green, light green, cream, light purple, dark purple, light purple, cream, light blue, dark blue, light blue, cream, light green, dark green.

What do you guys think? I've tried asking my husband, but as much as he loves me, I don't think he cares about yarn colors.

Well, I'm going to have to stop until I decide what colors to buy next. Loving this project, though! The yarn is so soft and snuggly I just want to bury my face in it!

Much love,

Stitching Up Some Comfort

I found this fantastic, super-soft, chunky yarn called Wendy Pampas a few months ago and I've been hoarding different colors ever since. Then I decided the perfect project for all this goodness would be a lap blanket. Here's my progress so far!

I'm stitching this up on 13mm knitting needles, so it's coming along really quickly. I cast on 65 stitches, which, if I've calculated this correctly, is about 30 inches. The first section is #2223, Ivy. The second one is #2246, Sage.

What I'm really excited about is that I've learned how to make the sides pretty, instead of lumpy! I looked up YouTube videos on how to slip the first stitch in a row so that it braids nicely all down the sides. Yay! Going to keep working on this for a while.

To learning new tricks,

P.S. There are a couple of great giveaway going on right now: Nancy is giving away some beautiful threads and trims over at the Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe on April 15th. McKenna is also having a giveaway for one of her adorable octopus at Chic Crafting, drawing on March 31st. Good luck!

Quilt Square 33

More on the American Quilt Flag!

This is California, the Golden State, admitted into the union on September 9, 1850, which makes it the 31st state.

It's such a sunny square, isn't it? Perfect for California, with all that bright yellow. I am going to put it aside for a week or so, just because the knitting bug has bitten me and there's a project I'm itching to start...more on that soon!

In other news, I've finally emailed the craft fair people. To prove that I'm really the one making all these items, I had to include pictures of what I intend to sell and pictures of my workplace - which isn't much, as you can see, just a corner of our bedroom where I've got my laptop and all my supplies. We live in a one-bedroom apartment, so I don't have a whole lot of space!

Anyway, they've emailed me back, and they said they'd be happy to have me involved! Isn't that awesome? I'm going to sign up for the first Friday in May - I think that'll give me enough time to pay the table rent, submit the form, and get all my stuff ready. Yay! So exciting!

Love,

Quilt Square 32

ep, back to the American Flag Quilt. Now that things have settled down a little around here, and I've gotten to know the new laptop better, I've picked up this piece again.

This new square is Wisconsin, the Badger State. Wisconsin was admitted to the union on May 29, 1848, making it the 30th state (only 20 more states to go!).

I'm starting to get excited about the end of this piece. Now that I'm anxious for it to be over, because I'm not - I'm still really enjoying stitching this piece up. I just can't wait to see what it'll look like when it's done!

All right, I'm off to work now. Our weekends are Friday and Saturday, so Sunday is actually the start of our work week. Have a good one!

Quilt Square 31

Finally got a chance to work on my baby some more. Here's the newest with the American Flag Quilt:

This is Iowa, the Hawkeye State. This was the 29th state to be admitted into the union, on December 28, 1846.

This required A LOT of backstitching, but it looks so pretty! I really like the blues and pinks on this square.

Off to work on another square,
